GLG Reflection Journal

The GLG is a well recognized organization in New York which seeks to impart wisdom and educate future learners for the future. It started in 1998 and soon developed networking to enhance and further spread its name throughout the globe. Their mission was is have a one-on-one learning session with incoming knowledge seekers and impart educational advice for which they can then use to take them further into the workforce. They have people whom are practitioners of business leaders, scientists, academics, former public sector leaders, and specific subject matter specialists. They all have at least one great and virtuous quality in common, the sense of leadership and the willingness to share it with others. Having a membership with the GLG will give further insight into these well-known industries: corporate, hedge funds, the industrial workforce, investment banking management, the law, life sciences, private equity, tech (including media and telecom), as well as professional services.

"GLG is driven by the curiosity of approximately 1,400 employees around the world who are transforming the way the top professionals share expertise and learn."

1) What was your motivation for starting GLG?
2) Would you be open to change the company if possible to enhance the company?
3) Is there any problem that the company suffers from?
4) What is the avg. amount of salary earned for a mentoring position ?
5) How is the company designed to function: office work, collaboration, or one on one with individual efforts?

After experiencing the GLG trip tour, most of my questions were answered indirectly through the GLG tour. Many of the employees relate back to how their past has shaped them into the person they have become and thus have made them into efficient workers in GLG. Another interesting example would be how the CEO of the business had an instance of when he himself was working at GLG but got kicked out for not having a phone operational in his office. After coming back in the next day, he resumed work as normal. His indirect message was to stay true to his work and be courageous enough to come back for the sake of his job and career.
